Amp shuts off subs, resistance problem? Bridging and dual voice coils...

Okay, I have an Alpine MRP-T220. It runs 70x2 RMS at 2 ohms. I have it bridged to a single Kicker S10L5 (Dual 4 ohm voice coil - Wired to 2 ohms). If i run it up too high the amp goes into protection mode. My amp is 2 ohm stable, but does bridging it have anything to do with it?

I am only using this setup at the time to break in the sub since it is brand new(Suggested in the manual to run at low power for a week or two). But I have a second one to break in as well, so if they both are dual 4 ohm voice coils, can I wire them at 2 ohms each and run one per channel on this amp? Or does that cause the resistance to go up to 4?

If anything needs clarifying please tell me and I will do my best to better explain the situation.

Thanks,

Robert

EDIT: I'm sorry but this is too funny... In the Warranty paper for my amp it stats J"What is not covered:*skip a bit* (3) Damage caused by act of god, including without limitation, earthquake, fire, flood, storms, or other acts of nature."

yes. it is only 2ohm stable in stereo mode, not bridged (4 ohms stable bridged)

yep.. and youre wasting your time breaking them in imo.

Well you said 70x2 thats ridiculous little amount of power for almost any sub your making that amp struggle trying to push enough power for that sub Kicker L5's require way more than 70watts change amps buddy

Umm. Yeah. I stated that I was only running it on THAT amp to break it in as the manual suggested. I've always had used subs, and no one ever told me different than the manual that when they are brand new, run them at low power for a bit to get everything moving correctly. I have a bigger amp. Just doing as was instructed.

manufacturers tell you this because they are trying to save there *** imo. just install both woofer's and set gains correctly. the subs will be fine. if a spider is stiff it needs a decent amount of power to move so taking 2 l5's and giving them 75 watts isnt going to break a woofer in imo. good luck

bridging subs will divide the resistance ryt? so if you wired it to 2 ohm. bridging it. the final load would become 1ohm.IMHO. ive had the same problem with mine. my amp is only 2 ohm stable. i bridged my sub. i didnt know my subs coil is burnt. only has 1 ohm left. i bridged resulting a final load of .5 ohm. it killed my amp. gud thing i had it fixed.
