Amp(s) for Polk MM6501 / MM651 / MM840

Hey, guys. First post.

I'm looking to get advice on what the best amp or amps would be for the setup below in my 2006 Toyota Tundra Double Cab:

JVC Arsenal KD-A735BT (4.8V pre-amp outs)

Polk MM6501 in front doors (125W RMS)

Polk MM651 in rear doors (100W RMS)

Polk MM840 under rear seat (250W RMS)

I am currently leaning toward the Polk D5000.5. It is 4x70W (4ohms) and 1x400W (2ohms). I'd probably be pulling more like 4x90W from the D5000.5 (since MM6501 / MM651 are 2.7ohms).

However, I wanted to get the opinion of the crew here on whether there's better amps out there in either a 5-channel package or a 4-channel + sub amp. I'd like to keep the total amp price tag under $300 because I can get the D5000.5 for less than that. I wouldn't mind getting something with a little more wattage if it's out there for this price range. I guess my prefernce would be to get something with at least 4x125W to match the front components and have the available headroom. Not sure if that's within my budget...

I'm into classic rock and hard rock... so I'm looking for sound quality with punchy, accurate, and clear bass, mids, and highs. I don't listen ridiculously loud most of the time, but I would like that capability... and I definitely want clean sound. Would the D5000.5 do it for me from what I've described?

Thanks for the help!

Drew

I should also mention that I also currently own an Alpine MRP-F300 (4x50W @ 4ohms, 4x75W @ 2ohms), and I was orginally going to use that combined with an Alpine MRP-F500 (1x300W @ 4ohms, 1x500W @ 2ohms (which I would need to buy)) for the sub, but I was worried about the MRP-F300 not having enough headroom for the MM speakers. Thoughts? I have no intention of upgrading this truck once I'm finished. It will stay with whatever I choose until I get rid of it. I want to do it right the first time. I would likely take the amp(s) out once I do get rid of the truck, for possible use in my next ride. Not sure if that makes a difference. Thanks.

Also considering the Precision Power P900.5 (4x70W RMS @ 4ohm, 4x115W RMS @ 2ohm)...
Now also considering the Soundstream TN5-950D (4x85W RMS @ 4ohm, 4x130W RMS @ 2ohm)...

Question - Are the Polk, PPI, and SS really that different as far as RMS outputs, or is that just manufacturers' marketing / ratings?

I don't know much about the other amps you mentioned, but I recently purchased the PA D5000.5 and can say you will not be disappointed.

I was looking for a 5 channel to power some front components, rear coaxials, and a 12" sub. I can definitely give this amp a thumbs up and would highly recommend it.

Any other questions about that amp I could help you out with?

Thanks for the reply! Those other two amps are basically the same amp, apparently.

Yes, I'd love to know a few more things about your Polk experience-

1. What speakers are you running (espcially wattage)?

2. Have you seen any bench tests (or performed any) on the D5000.5 to show how much wattage it's really putting out?

3. Does it have enough headroom for your application?

In the front I am running massive ck6 stage 5's (rms rated 130w)

In the rear I am running TS-D1702R. (rated rms 60w)

Sub - a single 12" kicker 10CVR124 (rated rms 400w)

Front and rear channels getting 70w @4ohms, sub 400w @2ohms

No.

Plenty. You said you don't listen to your music ridiculously loud, but would like the ability to do so if wanted.

I am in the same ship as you. I can play this moderately loud just fine, and if I really want to crank it up, there is ample capability to do so.

I will see, I would like to get a little bit more out of the sub channel, but I have a feeling this is caused mostly because I am using a tiny sealed box that is well under recommended size for that particular subwoofer. I have a larger, ported box arriving on Monday, so hopefully that will take care of it.
