Amp RCA problem

i have a RF P3001 and its been fine for a year now and i just got a JL 500/1 and i hooked it up with all of the same wires (power ground remote rcas) as i did with the RF and it doesn't work..i know the amp works cuz i heard it in my friends car and it worked fine. To test it, i hooked up both amps and i ran the RCAs to the RF amp and then the Pass THru to the JL amp and it worked....i did get a popping noise at loud volumes tho when i use the JL amp ...i tried different grounds and nothing would work.....any help would be nice..
