amp over heats

I have a DB spa1250.1 amp running @ 1ohm with 2 10" db platinum subs. they replaced the amp because it was over heating, but this new one does the same thing, is it normal for an amp to shut down after playing it hard for 30 minutes to cool off, don't know what it could be and any help would be great. I have been reading a lot on this forum and I know that you guys know a lot more about this then I do, so plz help

well in my experience an amp will overheat if it is a complete POS or if its installed incorrectly..i once had an amp that would continually overheat untill i installed a larger gauge power and ground wire to it....so how is it installed and where to you have it placed in the car..is it in a place where it can get ventilation?...what ohm load are you running it at...if its a 2 ohm stable amp and you are running a one ohm load that could cause it to overheat also

o gage wire, grounded to the frame, its running @1ohm the amp is made to run @1ohm

that amp is stable @ one ohm mono. is it really stable @ one ohm? i dont know..alot of companys claim that they are and will work for a lil while but not for the long run..i would personally run it at that if your subs can handle all that power....a class a/b amp @ one ohm will get extremely hot tho... maybe someone else on here has experience with db drive amps as i dont...i googled it though and the overheating seems to be a common problem with these amps

well thanxs for your help, maybe someone else will be able to tell me more about it, the rms on the subs is 750, it is still under warranty and they did suggest putting a fan on it but I don't know if that will help...has anyone ever done this and did it help with the over heating
