hi everybody!

this is my first system and i have a question about something...

i got a sony XM-D500X (500w rms) mono channel amp with an

infinity kappa perfect 12d VQ (400w rms) and am planning to wire the

4 OHM DVC as a 2 OHM load. i was wondering the amplifier is too

powerful for the subwoofer? If the amp is too powerful for the sub is

there any way i can lower the amps power to match the sub?

It would be great if anyone can help me out!!

You should be fine. Sony amps WAY over rate the power on their amps, and I've also heard that the Infinity Kappa Perfects can handle alot more then the RMS rating on them.
I heard about Infinity Perfects exactly the other way.. they can't be overpowered ... dunno for sure ...

Power handling is box dependent. In some boxes they can probably be overpowered, in some boxes they won't even need their rated RMS power (hence they can't be overpowered).

As for the amp, just be sure you set the gain properly using the gain setting tutorial at the top of this forum.
