amp keeps cutting out

i just got my system put in my car and my amp keeps cutting out. i thought it was the remote coming undone from the back of the headunit, so i pulled that out to check and it was good. so then i redid my ground wire and it worked for a few minutes, then started cutting out again..i have no idea what the problem is..any ideas?

Maybe you need thicker power/ground cables. ur amp seems hungry for power.

both..the sub quits pounding..and i noticed when i was messing w/ it..that when it cuts out the amp shuts off also, cuz the green power light fades off and on. i'm running 4 gauge. which is more than enough for 600 rms.

its for sure not the alternator..its a 98 ford mustang. it something wiring, either than or the amp is messed up internally.

mine cuts out too.......it just turns off and i have to turn my stereo off and then on and it works again.....it doesnt do it much so i just ignore it but i was thinking about replacing my amp

there's gotta be somethin i can do..i cant believe it would somethin internal in the amp..its new. ne suggestions?

Does it do it when you crank it up or at lower levels, or both?

it does it at both..but most of the time it's when i'm givin her some juice.

either ur amp has a selfshut off due to overheating(which i doubt,unless u have a cheap amp) or ur cables arent grounded right. reason i say grounded because my cuz has a civic coupe and his amp is under the passenger seat and his wont ground for some reason until his seat is pushed back.... its weird how some stuff works

make sure u dont have any open negative and positive wires nearby cuz if the touch or get close enough it will spark and short your amp out temporarally make sure you use speaker clips either that or its the ground cuz a decently new car should have no problem powering an amp, if you still have problems bring the amp back
