The other day my car was parked in the sun at my g/f's house for about 4 hours. When I left my amp didnt turn on. When I got to my house I turned the car back on to investigate and then it turned on.

Yesterday I worked 10-5 and my car was in the sun all day. Sure enough, when I left my amp wouldn't turn on.

Most of you guys probably have never had this problem b/c you have an actual trunk...but I drive a Camaro (hatchback) so the amp is basically in the direct sunlight. I have my backglass tinted but I suppose it's not helping any.

Suggestions?

Your gonna have to put something between your amp and the sun everytime your not driving it or relocate your amp. Maybe one of those "sunshades" people put in their front window to protect their dash would work. Im not sure if thats whats making your amp shut down though. An amp might get hot externally from the sun but it would have to be hella hot to get the internal components of an amp hot. With tinted windows Im not sure it could get this hot.

i have an idea.. move it?

Yeah, wow you're a genious. I wish I could have thought of that one.

I have a custom fit enclosure that goes down inside of my well in the hatch so there's no place else to put it. Unless I put it like in the floor in back the seat or something but that's ghetto.

You can just move it there on a temp basis to ensure that it is the issue.

If it dissipates heat one direction, wouldn't it dissipate heat both ways? I mean if the heatsink takes heat off the internal components, wouldn't it also transfer heat from outside to the internal components if the heat source was reversed?
