Amp Gain

I've been reading how to set a amp up using a DMM. My amp runs at 620w rms with 2 ohms. So I took watts times ohm and got the square root of that which is 35.21. I got a 50hz 0db test tone and set my head unit to flat. Turned the volume up to 55. 62 is max. I had all my setting on my amp turned down, then turned up the gain to get to 34 just to be safe instead of the 35.21, but turning the gain all the way up does't go to 34...... So I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here, any suggestion?

Also the amp is a Arc Audio Foose 600.1 and sub is a 10" Alpine Type R SWR-10D2

You need to turn the subwoofer out on your head unit to 0, if it's a Pioneer head unit. Also, make sure the crossover on the amp is set as high as possible.
Yea HU are weird on this part. My JVC goes 0-8, but on 0 it pretty much cuts off the voltage to the RCAs, kind of like a built in LC1. My buddies JVC is -8 - 8. I wish companies would make it universal...

I figured the settings out but still no luck, I'm gonna have my buddy look at since he set it up for me the last 3 times. Everything on the amp and **** was set fine and I didn't mess with them till today. It was just that I couldn't figure out the head unit setting I had set, unplugged the head unit and lost the settings without writing them down when I put a blower motor switch in the other day.
