Dealing with this god forsaken pop and whine that will not go away. Grounded RCA's power and grounds to amp clean and solid. It started popping when powered up by my DEH80 PRS so I did all the above. Then teh pop got worse, and now I have no tweets so I did what any respectable man would do, took the effer apart. Fried? or?

what do you mean by "RCA power and grounds"

its probably a blown amp, is there anything to indicate that its a good amp? try using a seperate signal source, aux to RCA

also check your 80prs outputs on a scope or other amp to see if its the problem

you're going to need to rule in/out equipment, cant say its blown just because of hte gut pics, not sure if that toroids looked like that before

forgot the comma. Grounded the rca's power and grounds are solid

Pioneer head unit, it made no difference when I grounded the Rca's at the head unit. Power runs are on one side of my truck, rcas are on the other

god dammit, I grounded the Rca's. Period the end of that sentence. My power and grounds are tight and not an issue.
lol ok that makes more sense, im leaning towards a bad amp. did both front and rear have this issue? you need to try giving that amp a new signal source to rule out bad signal source causing the noise then you can be pretty sure its at the amp, or the wiring to the amp.

yeah, both front and rears do. No issues with my sub amp though. No noise at all through it
Verify with new signal source then new amp. 80prs could have good output on sub rcas but bad on others, aux to rca are your friend and they're cheap

yeah it did when I ran components straight off it with passive x-overs
passive xovers might have reduced the noise but not by much, what happens when you run only crossovers at the headunit and leave the amp on fullpass? or vice versa amp only x-over (its safe to leave it off to test at low volume, just take it easy)

still sounds like a faulty amp

thoughts on running my mids and highs active of the DEH80's internal amp for the time being?
