Amp for hdc3 18

Looking for a good amp to run a single hdc3 D2 copper at 1 ohm. It's in a daily driver set up. Competing on occasion. I've read mixed reviews on properly powering this thing. I was thinking the Skar SK1500.1. Is this a good match? Should I give it more? As far as electrical I have a 140A alt, big 3 and an extra batt (stinger spv 70).

Well, lets start with there is a very good reason they are rated for 1k rms. While everyone under the sun thinks they need to run 2k to the sub in order for it to "work" that is simply not true. They work great on rated RMS and will work for a long time.

However, if you are going to careful with settings and such you could do a 2200 on one sub which leaves a good bit of room for upgrade later.

Thanks for your response! I won't be adding another due to space. And I don't want to upgrade my elec. more than I already have. So you think a 1.5k will be sufficient?

A 1500 watt amp will work just fine.
