amp for first system

i have a cheap 15" sub that is supposedly 500 watts RMS, although i havent verified this, i got it from a freind of a friend //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

anyways i would like to power that, and my 6x9s. i can get a 1600 watt 4 channel amp for 40 dollars but im not sure of all the specs on that and i would imagine it is pretty low quality.

what would you reccomend for a low budget amp to run this system?

on another note - if i amplify my 6x9s and not my door speakers, will the sound from the door speakers be overpowered?

im really a noob at this so any help is appreciated

What sub is it? Then we can give you amp choices..

Just run your rear speakers off your HU.

Upgrade door speakers in future.

it's a "Megasound" subwoofer. i found little to nothing as far as specs go on the internet, and im pretty sure its a low-quality sub i just want something that can give me adequate power.

are you saying that you wouldnt' amplify the 6x9s? if so, why? not much gain as far as sound quality goes, or is it a lot of work, or what?

This would be a good amp to power a sub and a set of good speakers in the front of your car:

That'll give 150w x 2 to your front speakers, and 600w to a subwoofer (bridge the two rear channels).

Amping the rear speakers and not your fronts is not a good idea. When at home, do you put your stereo behind you or in front of you? When you go to a concert, do you like to turn your back on the band?

Forget rears altogether, and get a good set of speakers for the front. With that amp, you'll have plenty of power for them.

alright. i am still open to suggestions, that one doesn't seem very widely available on ebay, etc. but it looks decent.

what do you think of replacing my 4" door speakers with my 6x9s, and cutting out a bit extra of the panel? (or not even bother with the cutting?)

cut out a bit extra panel and get some 6.5" for the front
