amp for 18xxx?

I am getting an 18xxx, i don't have a box yet, but i am probably going to go with a sealed box that is ~4.2 cubes since that is what RE's site says. what kind of amp should i be looking for? RE says 1600 watts. I am pretty broke, so I would like some low cost options. also, do you think that i could get away with a little less power to save some cash? or should i try and stay around 1600?

The compression circuit is disabled, and the resistor for protection is removed.

provided you dont do anything to damage it..basically, the amp doesnt have "protection" anymore..

modding the 1501 allows for lower impedance and increased voltage...

well i am not looking to spend more than $300 on it... preferably ~200. i am guessing that puts me in the used amp category, so a warranty is probably out.

a power acoustik a3000 2300rms@1ohm, but its overrated so expect 1800-2000ish and your set, i have 2 of them running at .7 daily, still doing good solid amp actually pretty efficient get one new for 280-300

Modded MTX 1501.1 are amazing....

should be EXACTLY in your range.

It just alows the amp to drop down in ohms with out it going into protect mode.

I ran one for a LONG time and beat the **** out of it.... took it like a champ!
