i just wanted to go ahead and get an idea of who fixes these and what average cost is. i have no idea what happened to this amp. it was the slave in my strapped pair, and it literally popped out loud twice and the smoke rolled. i havent removed it and taken off the back yet, but i assume its not good. it still turns on, but doesnt seem to have any output. i will remove it tomorrow and get some photos of the board and see if i can get a better estimate of the cost of repairs. the master amp is still running just fine, it was very weird.

btw, do you think the phase not being changed from the master to the slave couldve done this? i was in a hurry and didnt notice i had them the same. i doubt it, i think this amp was bad from the start. it was the first time it had a load on it all since i purchased it, rebuilt of course.

and also, i rechecked the manual on this amp, these particular amps need no phase switching when bridging so im really not sure what happened. may have been id10t error, not sure. ill get the board pics later today when i finish up on this job.

here is a photo of the board. all damage is to the heatsink side shown in the photo. did a pretty good number on it. if anyone knows how much this would be to fix, please let me know. thanks in advance.

It would also be easy to add an equalizer to have individual rca inputs for all of the channels. A decent one can be had for less than $40...

I agree with every one above. OFC is much better. Copper is a much better conductor than aluminum.
