alright so i am still new to car audio and i have a buddy who is going through some rough times money wise so i bought some of his old audio stuff. the amp is alpine 300 watt and the subs are two square kickers. im not sure what the subs need for power but the amp keeps going it to protection mode so does this mean that the amp is no big enough for the subs? are could it be something else? also this is hooked up through a stock deck so i have an outline converter on it. any help is appreciated.

im not sure on how to do that? we had it bridged and then i just ran it normal and it was the same result. help please. i can play the subs and amp but once i turn the volume up louder is when it goes it to protection mode. or if a song has lots of bass.

Pull the subs out of the box, and see what kind of voice coil configuration they have, ex: 2 ohms, 4 ohms. and let us know how many sets of terminals are on the back of the sub, 2or4

The amp is not enough he just sais that the amp is 300W and the sub is square kicker so L5 or L7 both will need more than 300W just for 1 sub and he have 2.

So maybe wiring can help you a little, but you need new amp soon.

alright sorry it took so long to get back to you guys. but i tested the subs on a buddies amp with my wiring and it did the same thing. so i rechecked the wiring again and the remote wire was ghetto rigged to the rear speakers so it was shutting down. so i re ran the remote to a toggle switch for now. anybody have any experience with these outline converters? or should i just stop messing with it and get an aftermarket HU? or where else can i run the remote wire with out an aftermarket HU?

Stop messing with stuff and take it to a shop. You do not sound like you know enough to be wiring and hooking things up.

An amp underpowering a sub will not send it into protect //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

whether the amp is enough power to run the subs it wouldnt make the amp go into protect.

im willing to betyou have the ohm load all screwed up. i had an amp that i ran 2 ohm bridged when it was only stable at 4 ohm bridged. i could turn in up so loud before it would go into protect just like you say.

use this site to fix your wiring http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp
