On my way home my amp shut off. I'm like wtf so I stopped in a parking lot and checked everything. The had no power to it and was not warm or smoking. I reset the breaker and turned it back on (can't remember if the breaker was thrown or not). No power. When I got home, I checked all my wire connections to the amp and I pulled out all the 40 amp fuses, none of them were fried. So I'm guessing its the circuit breaker but do they just fail like that? Its an Audiopipe 150 amp....

Do you have a DMM? (you should - if you don't have one march down to WalMart immediately or Sears if it's more convenient and spend $20 on one...)

Test the power cable after the breaker to see if it's live.

If it isn't then the breaker is bad.

If it is then it's something else.

To answer you question, though, yes - they can 'just go bad' but most quality ones wouldn't until after years of use.

its the audiopipe breaker i have the same problem if you swap that out and it still doesnt work then its the amp

You know a test light that I have would be a lot easier and cheaper lol. I didn't bother because I was so **** tired. I can't think of anything else it could be but the breaker. I got it only about 5 months ago.....

EDIT: I doubt my Sundown just took a shit on me. Its not a sony. lol

I always just touch the leads to my tongue to see if they are hot or not...maybe I need a DMM //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Take the breaker out of the circuit and try again.

If that doesn't help you need to get in there with a DMM and also inspect RCA voltage to make sure the HU isn't going.

And if all else fails... you did buy the amp with a warranty, right? If so and you can't figure it out, send it to me, it doesn't take long to get it back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sounds like the contacts in the breaker are dying //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Main reason why most ppl dont use em. Replace that breaker with a fuse holder and you should be fine

I reaplaced my noise filter with a better one and checked all my wires in the back of my head unit and beat on it for a little bit so I'll let you guys know ASAPif it goes out again. HU is about 2 months old so i don't think thats the problem. probably the breaker...

Now I think my sub is blown. It rattles like my deck lid and I don't know why. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Edit: I should mention it beats as hard as always, just rattles and makes a popping noise after a set of beats.....like a backfiring car.
