OK so i have a Soundstream RUB1.2500D and it blew on the way home today

i looked the board over for about 10 minutes and found two problem areas. nothing looks major but i know NOTHING about amps.

Pics:

R16 (nice and toasty)

ZD4 (looks like the connection came undone)

is this an easy fix?

that resistor is going to one of your power supply fets, and you will replace all of them. not sure what the deal is with that zener diode, and whether it's a result, or cause of the damage, but likely there is more there than just fets/resistors

I find it hilarious when people say things like "nothing major" or "easy fix" followed by "I know nothing about repairing amplifiers." I've said it before and I'll say it again, when an amplifier fails the system goes into an unknown state (at least briefly). When a component fails the circuit changes which changes the voltages/currents. It's very likely that more components are damaged but did not produce any soot. Replacing the just the charred components will be a bandaid fix at best (that's if it even works).

Send it to someone for repair or sell it as blown.
