yes im new to ebay; so even though they bid a certain amount at 1 point; they will beat me just cuz their max bid is higher? dumb...

How is that dumb? If we're bidding on an item and my max bid is 300 and you are bidding amounts under that, you think eBay should let you win?

Here's what I do. I see something I want and already know how much it is. I try and save some money off of that. Meaning if you wanted to buy an HC2400 Kinetik and you know it's like 260 or whatever in the store, stay under that amount.

You'll learn the easy or the hard way.

most of the stuff i get online is thru forums etc. you just find better deals that way usually. i figured id try ebay; didnt understand how i kept getting outbid so i posted here and i got called a retard... thanks for being helpfull and not a complete douche like most of the people that posted

Its also possible that they use an Auction Sniper. It will automatically bid for them without them being online up to a certain amount that they enter. Its happened a few times to me, but I just got a sweet deal on a cable modem and turns out I was the first and only bidder.

thats not an Auction Sniper.. its a feature of ebay, you can set a max bid, which will keep bidding until that person beats your price.
