alt noise

i been having an issue with alt noise. I have done the following.

replaced amp,and replaced RCA cords. The wires are ran separately.

I thinik its my head unit. The rear channel stays at a loud volume that I can not lower or raise. So I have a y adaper in front channel. ( i don't think think the Y is a problem because I had a EQX w/o Y before and it still had line noice.) BUt I did notice if I plug only one side of the RCA in the radio the line noise is worse until I plug the second side in. Thats with or without the y adapter.

I have tried running a wire from the battery ground to the H/u and a wire from Battery ground to amp to see if its a ground problem. I still get the alt noise.

Any ideas?

no its a clarion.

oh I know the grounds are good because when I disconnected the amp ground to check it, the cap dropped volts. as soon as I screwed back down it sparked( wire to ground not cap) and the voltage read normal.

i am really thinking of bad rca outputs on radio.

i think this week I will hook my ipod to my rca cables to bypass the radio. since I have to hook it up to my aux inputs. I will try that first. should tell me if its the radio or not.

ok i finally got around to hooking up my ipod. Here is what I found.

I unplugged rcas from radio to amp. Just used my radio for the remote on. I hooked my Ipod to my rear channel and my rear speakers came on, with no line noise. So I am thinking bad rca or radio. So next i hook it up to my front channel. I still have no line noise BUT all 4 of my speakers are playing. Front and Rear. So I checked to make sure I had it in the correct RCA jacks. It was correct. SO I moved the gain on both channels and the speakers got louder and lower with gains like they are suppose to. So I hook 1 RCA from radio to front jacks of amp. Again both front and rear are playing but no line noise.

SO I guess the amp is bad because I do not see a way to make the amp play both channels with only 1 set of RCAs. Its not in bridged mode. I called the place I bought the amp from and they verified that when I have RCAs in on amp both should not play. I have a Kicker 700.5 amp
