Alright guys i just got done buying my stuff. its a temp system i just got it to get some bass not HUGE bass this is what i got.. Xplod 10" Subwoofer 800W Peak Power and i got Xplod 4/3 Channel 500W Max power Amp.i know it wont give my Subwoofers full power cuz its not equal Watts but its good enough.ive never put anything in this car but when i bought the car their were wires i looked tonight and the 4 Speaker wires was already in the back but just say if i just wanted to test the sub without a amp what Wire would i use what wire would i buy and what part of the stero would i hook the wire into if i didn't have a wire for it already?and ive heard people talkin about 4 Gauge and 12 gauge is that the wire to go from battery to Amp? if so what gauge would i need to get? Thanks for any help

Yep, and use the same guage for you ground wire too. (amp to chassis)

For 500watts MAX (250watts RMS), 8 guage would be fine, but I would run 4 guage anyways just incase you want to upgrade later. 4 guage isnt all that expensive anyways, and not too much harder to run, and if you do run 4 guage, you are good up to 1000watts RMS incase you want to put some "real" equipment in there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smash.gif.499e08a4a35ffaf54f4c8194fb8fe8ed.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

well when i bought the car there was alreayd a gauge wire in there lol i don't know what gauge it is you think it would work till i get a gauge later on?

Look at the wire (really there should be two, power and ground) and look for printing on the wire casing. Should have a number like 8GA or 8 AWG. Mostly likely size would be 10, 8, or 4. Look for another larger wire similar to the one you think is power that should be ground.

Post a pic of your trunk (with wires visible) and we can help more.

im sure i can figure out the gauge part but when i got my car it already had a Speaker wire that went to a subwoofer i guess but the speaker wire is only like 3-5 FT long and it ends it doesn't go to the audio if i ran a new Speaker wire from the trunk where would it run too im very new to audio wireing thanks for any help.

The question im askin is im tryin to run a speaker wire so that i can hook up my subs in the truck.

Ok you are confusing me. I know you have speaker wire run to the trunk (at least that is what you said). Do you have RCA'S running there too? The speaker wire in the trunk MIGHT run off the HU, but I would not hook up anything until I know for sure what they are too. Hell the guy might have done some neon or other things and they could be 12volt hot wires. If you were to hook up your sub BOOM there goes your sub. DO NOT hook up the subs just to hear what they sound like. You will be disapponted. First you are not getting enough power for the subs to sound good, second if th subs are not in an enclosure they will sound like ***, and third you have no idea what wires are what.

Take the time and take the car apart until you find out what wire goes where. I would hate for you to spend this money to only blow up your amp, sub or anything else.

When you say there are wires in your trunk. Are the RCA's or are they regular speaker wire? Take the time to hook it all up right. You never know what kind of stupid stuff the other guy did prior to you. If I spent the money I would want to make sure everything was right.

Well it was just regular speaker wire but thats what ill do ill just check everything out and ill probally just rewire it all. thanks
