Hey all, I'm a newb. Thats all...
I'm jk, ive been reasearching the past couple months, and was going to put a new setup in my new car that i was going to get. Well it turns out that new car isn't coming for a while, so i decided i would go ahead and put it in this one, however im still lost because I'm just too much of a newb. Right now i have a the dual bandpass setup with 300w going to it and it sounds ok, but im looking for nice clean bass, that can get loud, but still sounds good fairly low. Heres what I'm looking at:
1) 2 12" Alpine Type R's
2) Hifonics 1206D amp (i think)
3) Custom Box ported and with all the right stuff. Having a friend help me.
A few questions:
1) 1206D amp from Hifonics enough? Its pushing 1200w at 1ohm, which would be 600w to each correct? Which is 100w over the rms of the subs? Should i look at the 1606D instead? (dont want to go more power than that, can't afford to buy new type-r's)
2) Should i look into a different amp or company, around the same price range?
3) I already have basic wiring from Best Buy which is probably shiz, should i upgrade all the wiring if i go with this setup? I'll install myself this time, I've been learning. Oh and if so, where should i get my wiring and what wiring will i need in addition to what I have (i think they used 8 guage)? Also what sites should i use other than ebay to get wiring? i had two great sites but i lost them and can't find the thread i found them at...
4) Kinda off topic with the Sub section, but I'm running the Stock Headunit on my 2005 Subaru, it's the upgraded stock sound system, so it has a 6 disk changer in the Unit. Will it be worth upgrading after the subs and amp? How important is it? The highs and mids are very impressive for stock on my car, and unless i blow a speaker im not looking to replace components yet.
Thanks for your help, sorry If I'm too much a newb and missed a thread somewhere that would somewhat answer my question, but ive searched a good amount and that setup seems to fit not only my budget but what i want out of good sound quality. Feel free to flame or anything about my duals as well, but it did get me addicted to the world of car audio //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
