I was thinking of matching a alpine mrd-501 with a alpine 1241d type r sub in their custom made enclosures

I don't know whether or not the amp/sub combo would work, but there's no way I'd pay an extra $84 for that box. Get the sub somewhere, and build a box yourself, you'll be much happier with the results.

that amp does 500 watts rms at 2 ohms right? if so that should make a decent setup. i would also look to build my own enclosure though.
