Hi guys, so I'm stuck making a very hard choice, I can't decide whether or not to get the cda-9887 or the ida-x100. I've done my research on both for like the past month or so and I still can't come to a conclusion. The only one I'm leaning towards right now is the 9887 because I figured I'd have to invest in the Imprint module for the x100 for it to match the 9887's sound quality, but other than that I really can't decide. Any feedback? Thanks in advance

Read on.

Basically, the 9887 has Built in crossovers and slopes, this allows you to ditch the passive x-overs of your components. You can put more power to you mids, and tweeters, ( not that it is always needed) but it gives you excellent control of all your speakers individually.
Nice read, thanks man. Anybody else have an opinion?

I've owned 2 9887's, loved em both. The EQ and T/A is still useful if you know who to use it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Keep in mind that the X100 has NO CD player, No built in EQ (besides treble and bass), 2v preouts (meh) and the Ipod control is nothing special.

I would get the 9887, and after you get the hang of it, run active with it.

wow, 2? lol, they must be worth it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif. and yeah i agree, the missing EQ and 2v preouts are definitely a turn off for me, but i know you can up the preouts to 4v with the imprint but that's another $150 or so investment.

Now what's this about the ipod control being nothing special? they advertise it as it's flagship feature and i havent gotten a chance to play w/ an x100 that actually had an ipod hooked up to it to see for myself.

9887 FTW

I feel that even if you don't run it active, it is still a very useful unit.
Yeah, I retract that previous statement. I realized the T/C and the eq are both good features.

To the OP. The ipod feature on the X100 is the ONLY feature on the unit. lol I can find stuff just as quickly on the 9887 as I can on the X100, it just has one less line of display.

thanks for all of your feedback guys, I went through with the 9887 for 280$ shipped and including the ipod cable on ebay //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

well, if your JUST using the IPOD then i would go with the x100

and to the dude who said the ipod control is nothing special is crazy...its hands down the best out..extremely easy to use i love it.

i owned a x001 then went to the 9886 and hated the ipod control and went to the newer model x100

Say what you will, but I'm not "crazy". //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif I find the wheel on the X100 to be bulky and obnoxious. The spring loaded "feature" of the wheel is what really irks me.

I can find songs equally as fast on my 9887.

yeah, I was using my friend's 9887 today and went to bestbuy to try out the display x100 they had and I figured the big wheel would eventually irritate the hell out of me lol, the 9887's navigation is pretty slick as well so I don't regret my purchase at all.
