Alpine swr-1022d subs are they any good?

looking at the speakers response in WINISD it looks to be a really good speaker 'on paper anyways'

 

I currenty run in one of my cars a box with 3 w7 jl 8's and it fkn slams and sounds great but at $800 for the subs its about 2xs more than i want to do in this new car/build

I was thinking about runing 4 of these alpines in push/pull in a ported box tuned to 31-34hz in isobaric config for sound clarity/quality

 

specs are show for my 3 8's and 3 alpine 10s

 

any thoughts?

Im going to do a step by step build of the box in the enclosure design section.

i wanted 8s or 10s that sound good that work well in small vented enclosurses so i could make a small 1.35cf box for all 4 10's tune it still to 33hz and get really good sound and responce in the little space I have to use.

I have the power end covered so being less efficant in isobaric mode wont be a prob.

going to start this box soon as the subs arrive ill keep you guys posted

One of the SQ guys that I know in MECA loves the way they sound sealed. He kept telling me that they sound better than the Type X's. I haven't heard his claims, but I have heard his setups and they sound pretty nice. His SQ scores aren't bad either.

I've ran one sealed before, IMO the SQ was terrible, but each setup is different so who knows, I say try it, whats the worst that can happen?
