Alpine SPS-610c's or Polk DB6501's?

Hello,

I'm looking to do a *somewhat* budget stereo for my SUV. I'm not sure if I would notice much of a difference if I went with the Alpine's or the Polks, as I've never upgraded my vehicle stereos before.

I was thinking of getting two sets of the Alpine 610c's for the front and rear for $140. Then I discovered the Polk DB6501 which run about $110 on ebay ($100 for the manufacturer refurbished).

What would be best? Alpine's all around for $140, Polk's all around for $220 ($200 if refurb'd), or maybe Polks in the front and Alpine's in the rear for $170?

These will be connected to an MB Quart DSC480 4 channel amp, and a Kenwood Excelon KDC-x597.

Thank you

If you are going to be getting two sets for sure the Pioneer TS-D1720C's are a much better option than those. The best $100 component set there is.

I've already ran 4 gauge power, the RCA's, remote and ground. Was just curious about the factory speaker wire.

So I should go with the Pioneer TS-D1720C's even over the Polk's?

Thanks

i'd suggest you go and have a listen for yourself (if possible) and get the ones you like the sound of the most, also i'd suggest one set of splits to start with and a pair or two/three-way speakers for your rear fill (you wont hear these from the drivers seat)

I'd go with Polks. Plenty of good reviews. I haven't seen a great review of Alpine speakers (by an audiophile) for some time.

polks are more clear and are more detailed in the trebles, the type S has a lot of midbass and are average consumer level grade in clarity, not the best but its not too bad either. choice would be based on what you like more. Clarity and highs, go with the polks. mid bassy and laidback sound and go with the alpines.

i've heard both and i like the polks more, but you gotta EQ some harshness in some songs. In all fairness thoughl i had to EQ the harshness from the Type S also.
