Alpine R's vs. X's???

I hate asking these questions because I know they are very subjective but I just want some opinions.

I came across a local car audio store that has a pair of Alpine Type X ref's for 240.00.A local BB has the Alpine Type R's on clearence for 180.00.Unfortunately I cant listen too either of them.

If I buy the R's I will get a full warranty and for like 10.00 would add another 2 years on top of that.The X's have no warranty.The shop is a small shop and they dont carry Alpine.They ordered them for a customer as a favor and he changed his mind.They are brand new in the box but no warranty.

Is there a big difference in the SQ of these 2 sets?Is it worth it to spend the extra $$$ for the X's?

I wouldn't pay 240.00 for refs with no warranty,hell I paid 160.00 from ebay for mine

Thats kind of what I was thinking.I dont know if this makes sense to anyone or not,but sometimes Im willing to pay a little more to help support my community.This place has helped me with some advice and even showed me a thing or 2.I do agree though the no warranty does pretty much ****.

So the X's are a better buy and I should check them out more??

you can get the r's cheaper than that also
