i love my 9886

The difference in 9886 and 9887 isnt really that big.

If you want active and/or more EQ adjustability go 9887

If your fine with passive and/or dont need/want more adjustability go with the 9886

I love my 9886 and its EQ is fine with me

9835 or the 9855 would be my pick. I've had the 9855 since 2005, when it came out. I love it. It's in my daily driver now. The 9887 is pretty nice too, but I'd say the older Alpines are a little better.

Ya:verymad:

Just noticed I posted two of the same thing

Don't mind that I posted these twice.

Alpine CDA-9835

Alpine CDE-9880

If you consider either of these a good choice please explain also so I don't have to start this whole poll over.

Thanks for the feedback so far btw! hope to hear more. this is a big decision on my part and any help i can get is good help

Although it's not on the list. I always like the CDA-7995, wish it were black though. It's a dead head (no internal amp) has DC-DC conversion, good DSP and EQing. Personal to me this deck was the pinnacle of alpine decks (1 din, besides the f1) when Alpine was at their pinnacle

woah...

ju$t noticed the average price range on the 9835.. :/

i can see how its getting top vote but i have to stay under $200 ($170 preferably)

i rush making this poll (if not obvious enough) so i'm kinda in a bind.

thanks for the input regardless (esp. ejschultz: you've helped more then once)

I had a 9855. The screen started shutting down on me though. It would work for a week and then for a couple of days, after playing for about 30 seconds the screen would turn off and none of the buttons, volume included would work (but it would still play). Than the screen would start working again. Great sound shaping capabilities on that unit. I miss them. I have a 9886 now. I'm not real happy with it, but it's not to bad. No EQ and iPod lag is annoying though.

The 7995 has Bass Engine Plus. This means no active capabilities and basically a 2 band parametric EQ. It's decent, but there were better from that time frame. For instance, the CDA-7998.

7969, but good luck finding one.
It looks pretty decent, but I was never a fan of that style.

Did you try cleaning the connector for the faceplate?
