Alpine PDX Series

I'm looking for thoughts on the Alpine PDX series of amps. I am currently running a Memphis Big Bell (bridged 2x230wpc & 1x600wpc?) for my subs and my mids and a Memphis 3004 (bridged 2x230wpc for tweets). These have been tuned down to 150wpc and using the crossover settings within my PRS880. I'm looking for a little different sound and thinking of going with the PDX 4-150 and using the HERTZ passive crossovers in lieu of the Pioneer's crossover in the 880. Also using an Alpine PDX 1-1000 for the subs.

2 resons for the change:

#1. As I said I'm looking for a different sound than what I have now with the Memphis.

#2. The Memphis amps are located under the rear seats behind a sub box and can't breath too good. Big Belle keeps shutting down with louder volumes from heat.

Please give honest reviews as to your thoughts on these Alpine amps.

Thanks,

Chuck

BTW....I'm also contemplating the use of another set of HSK-165's for a little rear fill.

I'm going to be getting another PDX1.1000 real soon so I can run one to each of my subs!!! Great amps, and I couldn't be happier. Soon after that I'm ditching my Rockford 4.450 and getting a PDX4.100 for my speakers.

My friend has a PDX1.1000 powering a JL 12W7 and it plays extremely LOUD. His birthsheet was 1138 watts! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif The W7 with 1000 watts is too much bass for my taste, but he loves it.

I was looking at those amps, but recently purchased the new JL HD 600/4 instead to run my Pro 60 mids. Check them out. They are very similar to the PDX line (small, stackable, efficient), have RIPS, and use some kickass patented new processing technology. Side by side, they are supposed to be even better than the PDX amps, which are already excellent. I have not installed this amp yet, but it's a beauty for sure!

I am currently giving my mids about 225w each with my old PPI A600, but I'm going to bridge this new JL amp to give them 300w each. I will try to remember to post up a review after I install it.

The line is very new, and currently only offers the 600/4 and a 750/1. They should have more options later.
