Alpine PDX 100.4 in protect at volume 45???

Well I've been helpin audiopulse88 with his buid and install. He picked up and AB 100.1 and Alpine PDX 100.4 from Jacob "Sundowz", and the AB works great, but we finally got the pdx hooked up and it goes into protect mode at about volume 45.

Not sure what is up. Both amps are grounded in the same spot, and fuses are all good....What could be the deal here?

he has and will again I do believe....

he said that he slightly tapped on the amp also and it would go into protect

check inline fuse connection, also current draw might be the problem, try back the gain all the way down and see if it still has the same problem, what amp is running what and at what ohm?

try to lower the gain a lil bit that might help and check if the amp is getting enough power like they said.

pdx is running a set of components @ 4 ohm

hes gonna check the voltage at the amp, and gain again......hard to do all this over the phone..lol Wish I was there to help him right now

PDX bridged at 2 ohm, ab 100.1 is at 1 ohm and it doesnt matter wat the gain is set at it does it at 45ish everytime.

maybe its cuz they are birdged, ohm load that the amp cant take....or bridged wrong....

Therein lies the problem.

the pdx amps will only shut down for one of 2 reasons - overheating or the wrong ohm load, which is what you are experiencing. the 4.100 can do the following:

RMS Power Ratings

* Per channel into 4 Ohms: (@14.4V Ƈ%THD+N, 20Hz - 20kHz) 100W x 4

* Per channel into 2 Ohms: (@14.4V Ƈ%THD+N, 20Hz - 20kHz) 100W x 4

* Bridged 4 Ohms: Bridged into 4I? (Ƈ%THD+N) 200w x 2

speakers are pulling to much from the amp at that leval turn down the gan on the amp and it shoul be just fine the pdx has a bunch of safe moods. great amp but i will never own one

he's also worried that when he lightly would tap on the amp it would go into protect?
