Alpine or Pioneer? A simple system.

The two systems I'm looking at. My main concern is which speakers are generally better? And if I have the imprint done for an Alpine system can that make a huge difference? Any other comments?

$175 Alpine CDA-105 Receiver w/ ipod & Imprint

$135 Alpine Type-R SPR-17S 6.5 Front Components

$95 Alpine SPR-69C 6x9 Rear Speakers

$120 Alpine KTP-445 Amp 50W x 4 RMS

----

$525

$190 Pioneer DEH-P6100BT CD Receiver w/ ipod & bluetooth

$224 Pioneer TS-C720PRS 6.75 Front Components

$87 Pioneer TS-D902P 6x9 Rear Speakers

$120 Pioneer GM-6400F Amp 60W x 4 RMS

$25 Pioneer CD SR100 Steering Wheel Remote control

----

$646

Depends on your goals really, pioneer componts over alpine all day. The PRS are the best set I can think of for 250. The headunits are a tossup and basically revolves around ur ergonomic preference.

Pioneer 6100, Pioneer components, Alpine 6x9s (I had those at one point and they give some pretty good bass if you're not doing a sub), and the Alpine amp. That's what I'd do for what you're looking at. When I started in audio, I wanted all my brands to match. Some brands are better at some things than others so matching to me isn't too important anymore. What type of car is this going in?

The Alpine Type R 6.5s aren't that bad, but, they were the "best" option that I could find at the time for my dang door panels. I tried other speakers, but they were either too deep or too big to fit in the stock location behind the grills in a 97 Civic. I wasn't in the mood to perform heavy modifications just to make the speakers look as if they belonged there for a friggin econobox.

From what I have heard, the Pioneer 720PRS speakers have a much better midbass than my Type Rs BUT I find the Pioneer tweeter to be harsher than the SPR-17Ss delivered tweeter.

Pioneer D series comps over Alpine type Rs any day, I have heard both in many different setups. Alpine Type R subwoofer better then a pioneer champ but alpines more money..I'd rather have the champ pro for $10-20 more then the Type R.. champ pro is 1000rms. Alpine amps are better but more pricey I'd look into amps and go with the best options there not just to match your speakers. Head unit the pioneer typically I find has more tuneing options compared to the more expensive Alpine which seems to just always sound better but both sound good regardless...I personally prefer pioneer I find them easier to use and cheaper...

Just took a Pioneer 5800 out of my wifes car and put in an Alpine CDA 105.A big difference in SQ and you don't need a cable for the Ipod-you can use the white Apple cable that comes with it.It seems to be built much better also and a very nice display. It played everything I stuck into the USB connection-even my Iphone and an old Ipod.I would rate it much better than the Pioneer.
