Alpine not as loud as factory?

If I wired the subs in series would that make them work again? I know the subs are not blown, not sure exactly about the amp, the fuse was smoking it got so hot.

Sounds good. I'll hook everything back up tomorrow and see what happens.

this kinda went off topic... So there is nothing I can do to get the full sound from my factory speakers?

wow. surprised no one has given him the answer yet.

You say you have RCA inputs to your factory amp right? They'd be green, grey, white and purple. So instead of using the high level outputs (speaker wires) you're using the low level outputs (RCAs)

Just for demonstrations sake we'll say your aftermarket deck has 4v pre outs (RCA) and 15 volt outputs (Speaker Wire)

If your FACTORY head unit was putting out 10 volts to the amp, that would explain why your sound doesn't have the volume it used to.

Try wiring the speaker wires into the harness instead of the pre-outs and see what happens.

no, rca's are for the bd1000

not sure if they ran anything to the factory amp?

my original question was what would be the reason for the lack of sound and it kinda went another way but yeah...

Well they either used the factory amp or they ran totally new wires. With an amp that can be used it would be stupid to run new wires.

Figure that out and then you can find your answer as to why the volume is not as it was before.

I just went outside and popped my trunk.

Looks like no new wires ran to the factory amp or the speakers.

I really would like to not have to rip apart the dash, but I might to get a better idea of what they did or didn't do.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Can't help you any farther until you figure out what they did.

I bet they just ran either RCA's or High Level outputs into the amp. I've done both before.

If they used a bose adapter then that would explain why they used the RCA outputs but the bose amp and the amp you have are different. The amp you have can be fired directly into with the high level outs.

I don't think they didn't either...

I don't know for sure yet (have not took deck out) but I think they just wired the harness to the deck and that's it.

If i have time before college tomorrow I'll find out
