Alpine M1000 vs Elemental Designs NiNe.1 for IDMAX

I'm in the market to upgrade my current amp (Kenwood KAC-8104D) for my Image Dynamics IDMAX 12" D4 V3 in my 99 Mitsubishi Galant.

I was absolutely set on the Alpine M1000 (which I can get through Best Buy for a super cheap price with my employee discount) and then I received an email from Elemental Designs with their Holiday prices on their amps. The NiNe.1 is on sale for $195 which is around the price I would pay for the Alpine M1000. I've done research on Elemental Designs' home audio products, but not their car audio.

That said, which amplifier would best match my IDMAX in terms of having the best sound? Which amp would you guys choose over the other? I don't have time to test them both out so I am putting my faith in you guys!

Thanks for helping me out.

nine.1 would give you more power, but since your running at 2ohms your not gonna notice a difference, I believe you get like a 5year warranty with the nine.1, not sure what you get with the alpine...

I'm not too concerned about power, I'm more concerned about reliability, cooling, and efficiency. My 4cyl galant has a 90 amps alternator and I'm already running a 4 channel Sony 4060GTX amp and then whichever of these 2 I end up getting. I don't have a yellow top battery either, will I be ok?

I've heard a couple people say the nine.1's efficiency wasn't that spectacular but I believe they were comparing it to a Sundown amp which was much more expensive. I found the nine.1's statistic for efficiency (64%) but I can't find it for the m1000. Any ideas about this?

edit: I found that the Alpine is rated at 80% efficiency

Im running an M1000, its very efficient. Runs cool at all times as long as you dont clip it. Alpine has good customer service too, i had mine for about 6 months and beat the shit out of it, and i sent it back to them for a no questions asked replacement. I had a new amp 7 days after i sent the old one.

They are rated at 1200 watts into 12.5 volts, but we find that most put out 1400

watts on our test bench at 13.6volts. We are looking at the unit shipping in

January.

Thank you.

I ran and sold ed for a year or so...at 1/2 ohm you could get 1600+ rms at 14.5 ran 2 18's walled off in my astro off 1 nine.1 and did about 151 flat at the dash. @ 2 ohms you will have 600ish....I liked the nine.1.

idk about the old nine.1's but the new one is not 1/2 ohm stable.

I don't have the best electrical system and my headlights already dim. I do plan on getting this amp kit http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Rockford+Fosgate+-+4-Gauge+Dual+Amplifier+Installation+Kit/8286865.p?id=1172276905021&skuId=8286865&st=rockford%20fosgate&cp=1&lp=7 and a capacitor http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Rockford+Fosgate+-+1-Farad+Capacitor/8286482.p?id=1172880157454&skuId=8286482&st=rockford%20fosgate&cp=1&lp=2 through (super cheap with discount) so hopefully those things will help.

However, regarding efficiency, do you guys still recommend the nine.1 over the m1000? I'd like to keep my current alternator and battery without draining my electrical system.

I like the idea of reliability and expandability. NINe.1 .

Mine has been more than reliable. I ordered two pre-sale. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
