alpine keeps shutting when i put it UP!!

HI PEOPLE!! I'm from florida i drive a 99 gt with a alpine head unit and 2 12 subs with a 1000 watt amp. I'm A newbie when it comes to audio so don't chuckle at me with my questions. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif I did not do the install on the system so i can't tell ya anything about it, my question is...... When i turn up the volume on the headunit and my bass starts thumping the whole unit shuts off for about 2 seconds then turns back on. I have to lower the volume so it won't shut off. anyone have a idea why this happens? where do i look if it's a ground wire? Is this a saftey featurn on the headunit? I have no idea..help a newb

do your lights dim badly at night?

maybe a loose connection somewere. how old is the HU. the vibration might be screwing with something inside that is going bad.

Well my lights have dim alittle not not alot very little. I don't know how old the head unit is, it came with the car when i got it last year.

could just be a bad HU. check all your wires in the harness and make sure nothing is loose. u need a decent voltage drop to get your HU to shut off. i can run mine till the battery is allmost dead before anything happens. so if your getting a small amount of dimming, it doesn't sound like u are loosing that much.
