Alpine KCA-620M install need help and advice

I have a IVA-W203 head unit with the P1 navigation. Im looking to purchase an Alpine KCA-620M for my system and Im wondering if I could wire a 100 Gig external hard drive to it and have all my music and movies on the hard drive so I can access and play them all through my IVA-W203 Head unit. Is this possible or am I just chasing an unlimited music and movie dream, Please help because Im excited about the install and I need some reassurance that this is possible. Thanks and take care.
