ALPINE UNVEILS ENHANCED PULSETOUCH IN MOBILE MULTIMEDIA STATION
TORRANCE, Calif., Jan. 6, 2005 Ը?Ը?Ը? Alpine Electronics of America, Inc., today introduced its second-generation PulseTouchԸ?Ը?Ը? technology in an IVA-D310 Mobile Multimedia StationԸ?Ը?Ը?.
Last year, Alpine unveiled PulseTouch, which used vibrations, pressure and sound to simulate the sensation of using real buttons on an LCD screen. For 2005, Alpine has improved this award-winning HMI (human to machine interface) by adding intuitive on-screen finger stroke slider functionality and sound control programming settings.
The IVA-D310 gives visual, audible and tactile confirmation with eight different vibrations and pressures to simulate what it feels like when you touch, slide or push actual controls on the LCD screen. With the IVA-D310Ը?Ը?Ը?s second-generation PulseTouch technology, users experience enhanced tactile feedback with more distinct feeling between different touch commands. It has a 7-inch wide touch screen, backed by a high performance DVD mechanism that is inspired by the superior sound technology that is featured in the top-of-the-line AlpineF#1Status DVD head unit. When the monitor is closed, it retracts back into the dash, but a front-panel display still lets users control the unit and see radio station channels and disc tracks. The faceplate can even be removed for theft deterrence.
The IVA-D310 is an ideal unit for multichannel music when itԸ?Ը?Ը?s paired with a PXA-H701 digital processor. With the new EQ Touch mode, users can set the PXA-H701Ը?Ը?Ը?s EQ levels simply by touching and dragging their finger on the screen.

The IVA-D310 is Satellite Radio Ready and has DVD-Video/DVD-R/RW and MP3/WMA playback. An iPod can be connected and played through the IVA-D310 with the optional KCA-420i
Interface Adapter for iPod. The IVA-D310 incorporates AlpineԸ?Ը?Ը?s second-generation Ready for iPod features, such as an iPod icon as a source indicator, and song title, artist and album name displayed on the screen. Users can search playlists, artists, album and song lists using the IVA-D310Ը?Ը?Ը?s new PulseTouch slider function.
The IVA-D310 is also an ideal source for a rear-seat entertainment system with several features built in for easy control of DVD entertainment. The multimedia station features direct touch DVD menu control that allows for accessing of all DVD menu functions by directly touching them on the screen. By adding the VPE-S431 expansion module, independent audio or video sources can be accessed by the rear seat passengers. If the rear seat passengers also have AlpineԸ?Ը?Ը?s TME-M770 6.5-inch monitors, the passengers can control, via the TME-M770 touch screen, the source they wish to access.
The IVA-D310 can also work with AlpineԸ?Ը?Ը?s NVE-N872A navigation system, providing touch control of navigation commands. Users have three options for inputting destination data into the navigation system Ը?Ը?Ը? via remote control, voice control or touch screen.
Another unique feature that comes from the pairing of the navigation system with the IVA-D310 is the ability to control the basic audio functions of the IVA-D310 via spoken voice commands. By using the supplied microphone and Ը?Ը?Ը?SpeakԸ?Ը?Ը? button that come with the NVE-N872A, basic audio functions such as source selection (ex: Ը?Ը?Ը?CD,Ը?Ը?Ը? Ը?Ը?Ը?radio,Ը?Ը?Ը? Ը?Ը?Ը?iPodԸ?Ը?Ը?) and basic iPod use (ex: Ը?Ը?Ը?Play,Ը?Ը?Ը? Ը?Ը?Ը?Pause,Ը?Ը?Ը? Ը?Ը?Ը?Track Up/DownԸ?Ը?Ը? if an iPod and separate KCA-420i are connected) can be controlled through the userԸ?Ը?Ը?s spoken voice commands.
The IVA-D310 will be available in April at a suggested retail index of $1,600.
