I've had my Alpine IDA-X001 (courtesy of a Best Buy clearance @$80) for a few months now. I've had occasional issues where the ipod (using an ipod touch) playback would start to stutter or pause. Simply disconnecting the ipod and reconnecting usually fixes the issue.
However, with the hotter weather, this is becoming more frequent - it is obviously tied to the heat as in the mornings or at night when the cabin is relatively cool, it is fine. But when first getting into a hot car in the middle of the afternoon, the ipod will almost never work until I blast the A/C for a bit.
I'm seeing various issues - the same stuttering, or pausing (sometimes it will display as Paused on the H/U, but hitting the Pause button doesn't restart playback), Error 01 or 02 displayed on the H/U, and often the entire H/U will lock up, to the point where none of the buttons work. Since operations beyond the ipod seem to be affected, I don't think the ipod is the problem. However, when locked up, normal operation will resume if I disconnect the ipod.
Anyone else experience this? Admittedly, I haven't tried taking the ipod out of the car in the heat, and so being able to plug a "cool" ipod into a "hot" H/U....
