alpine HU enough power??

i really want to get a alpine HU, like the 9815 with the v-drive built in, but to do so i will have to sell my hu (panasonic something...not to great) and probably sell my mid/highs amp (eclipse...badass little amp). my ? is will the alpine be enough power to sufficiently power my alpine R's? right now they are seeing 110ish rms, i know i will not get this from the HU, but will it sound worse than what i have right now (2v pre-outs on the panasonic)?

I wouldnt recommend hooking up subs to your HU. I can understand being a little strapped for cash trying to get the HU you want, IMO it would be well worth it to get a small amp (temperary amp) instead of using your HU. Even if it is a Legacy.

no no, im saying using the HU to power the door speakers.....i have amps for the subs, but in my set up right now i have a panasonic HU with a eclipse amp pushing the mid/highs, not the HU, but i think the alpine will be powerful enough to where i wont need the external amp for the mid/highs...........

(id never run subs without a amp, id rather die)

You would want to run the door spekaers with the amp and the rear speakers off the HU. If you get the Alpine with the V Drive (remember it has to have a direct connection to the battery) it should be more than enough to power your rear speakers.

I know what your saying.Your HU should be able to power your Alpine Type R SPEAKERS(not subs) pretty decently,but i would go back to an amp as soon as posible.You wil lose some sound cause not as much wattage.

That pretty much sums it up.. I think you're asking a fairly rhetorical question. If you're getting 110 watts rms, you obviously won't be getting nearly as much power from just your deck. Even with higher voltage preouts, I'm guessing you'll get at most 1/3 the power. Won't sound bad, won't sound great.

What size Type-Rs are you putting 110 watts to? Are they components or coaxials?

i have 6.5 components, just got them about 2 weeks ago, im feeding them alot of power, but i have the gain on the amp practically all the way down, so thats why i was thinking i dont really need it.....

Dont spend so much money on the Alpine,get a lower model,they are all badass Headunits.I have the 9807 and i love it.Keep the amp on the comps.If you want the alpine save up some more money.Responses not responces,just for you know.
