Alpine full speed connection, is it digital?

Wondering if the full speed connection from my ipod to my 9887 is actually digital... as that is my primary source... seems a waste of those fine bur brown DACs if they are not being used for the ipod, only CD....

I was just told by Alpine no! I was asking a similar question because I wanted to go optical with the IVA-105 (i wanted to upgrade from the 9887). I was told that only the CD player runs of the 24 bit DAC

Wow... amazing, I called Alpine 2x about this, both people said YES ... great... maybe I should get the iDAX then.......
