Need your guys help on setting up my crossovers and ideas for the EQ setup. I listen to mostly rock music if that helps any.

Subs: 10 inch infinity kappa perfects (Frequency Response (±3dB): 18Hz - 150Hz).

Speakers: Infinity Kappa 62.1i (frequency response of 50 hz-20 khz).

Amps:

JBL bp600.1 (Frequency Response (±3dB): 20Hz - 500Hz - X-Over: 32Hz-320Hz - Boost ±0-6dB)

JBL 180.2 (Frequency Response (±3dB): 10Hz - 50kHz - X-Over: 32Hz-320Hz).

Now that said I have the Alpine 9830 and was wondering first of all should I go with the Alpine crossover or the JBL's? Depending on which ones to go with, what should they be set at? Next question is what is the best way to set the EQ (the defaults are just not cutting it)? Sorry for the length - but I figured you guys could help.

Thanks in advance

Josh

If the Alpine allows you to highpass your interior speakers and lowpass your sub, I'd use the Alpine (since then the controls would be at your finger tips all the time).

what should they be set at?
That's 100% setup dependent. Your interior speakers should be highpassed somewhere between 50hz and 100hz, and your sub should be lowpassed somewhere between 50hz and ~75-80hz.

Next question is what is the best way to set the EQ

Seriously, there is no way to tell which EQ settings work best in your setup without listening to it. It isn't something you can really do or make recommendations on over the internet. You just need to dive in there and start changing things till you find the settings that sound best.

always set your settings to what sounds best...

BTW, i always see every one talking about using 50-80 hz for their bass crossover, my HU sub putputs are at i believe 80 hertz my eq changes it from 4 volt - 7 volt and from 80 - 50 hertz, then my low pass filter on my amp is set at 35 hertz. It sounds pretty **** good and slams pretty hard, so why does every post i see say set the bass at around 50-80 hertz?
