Trying to decide between Alpine CDA-9827 abd Pioneer DEH-P7600MP.

Your recommendations will be appreciated.

___________________Alpine____Pioneer

RMS Power Output____18 watts__22 watts

Preamp Voltage ______4 volts____2.2 volts

EQ Bands____________None ____3

FM Sensitivity_________9.3 dBf___8 dBf

CD Signal-to-Noise___105 dB___94 dB -> Seems like a big plus for Alpine.

Making the display as dim as possible is also a big plus for me, I like the Pioneer looks slightly better....

Thanks

Dude go to circuit city, go to their car audio department, turn on the 18 watt head unit by alpine, put the volume on level twenty, then turn it off, turn the pioneer on, and put it on level twenty (using the same speakers) and see the difference the Alpine will make even though it's less watts. I'm telling you a lot of companies lie about the watts. I replaced my factory speakers in my Isuzu rodeo with speakers that were supposedly almost double the RMS of the old ones and they were actually weaker. I think with electronics you basically get what you pay for. Alpine you're gonna get less features but better quality sound. What ***** about alpine is in order to get the ones with txt display, wireless remote etc you're gonna pay out the ass. If you don't care as much about the sound quality I would go with the pioneer, you get a lot of nice features. It just depends on what's more important to you.

Baring sound quality you could always step up a few models for the Alpine. 9833 probably get one right under 300 with shipping on Ebay. Could do the same with the Pioneer, but I am an Alpine man.

http://www.crutchfield.com

that is the best place to buy a HU that is over 199 because it comes with free shipping+free install equipment+warranty+tech support

i got my 9827 for 260 shipped with all the mounting harnesses for my specific vehicle with detailed instructions.

i like it alot, and i didnt really need any more features that the better models had.

I just ordered my 9830 from crutchfield on friday for $260 shipped. It should be here today. Honestly, you could not beat that deal. The price has since gone up to $300 from $280, but with a refer-a-friend code, you could save $20.

I bought the CDA-9827 recently. The player sounds very nice except

for some annoyances, and here are my opinions on this player for

anyone that may be interested.

First the bad,

1) The blue lights are too bright in the night time and there is no

option to turn it off. The dimmer that they claim (dimming when

you turn on the headlights) is almost useless - it dims only the

blue buttons by a very small amount still leaving it very bright

enough to be annoying on a long highway night ride (and moreover

it does not work with blackout enabled)

The blackout display is a good option, but having no choice but

to always have these blinding (in the night only) lights on is

pathetic engineering.

IF ANYONE KNOWS ANY METHOD (EVEN DESTROY/ CUT THE CIRCUIT TO THE

BULBS INSIDE) PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

2) Controls are needlessly complicated and the manual does a lousy

job of explaining them (some of the functions that show up on the

display are not even explained properly, like the INT, CD-DA/MP3

functions...). To adjust bass/treble, you have to go through

a handful of center frequencies/bandwidths...which may be good

(if you have your car parked and you are really experimenting

to find out which setting sounds best for that song) but is not

what one wants to go through when he quickly wants to set the

bass/treble... a simple (additional) control like a basic player

could be useful...,

And this center frequency thing is quite confusing at times,

believe me I am an electrical engineer with a Masters graduate

degree //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif, not sure what happens to the setting on one center

frequency (say f1) when you move to another freq (say f2) and

adjust the new one, because when you come back to the original

f1 it shows the new setting for f2... hope I made some sense.

Now the goodies!

+ Sounds really better than my stock (acura integra) player even

with stock speakers.

+ Browsing the files/folders is pretty neat though you are limited

to a 8 character display. Dont get it wrong, the display does

scroll when you select a song and you can read the entire ID3

tag...

Other comments:

* A black color head unit will be desirable as it will integrate

with the look of the dash better. Being silver it stands out

a little in a black dash seeming to say "Steal me!".

* Remote works only when directed towards the player... so cant

mount it anywhere you like...

* The MediaExpander (that they claim to compensate for the loss

in sound quality due to the compressed nature of mp3 files) is

not really all that useful, it makes the music sound worse in

many cases.

* File/folder browsing using remote would have been cool...(you

kind of tend to hide the display with your own hands while

using the rotary knob to browse... not a big deal at all...)

Thouse are the same 2 i'm trying to decide over, i posted alot of topics about them and most people recomended the alpine over pioneer, but i think im going to go with pioneer cus of features n ****, or maybe spend alittle more and go with 9830. but go to crutchfield and compare the 2.

If you hold the MX button down it gives you three types of settings to choose from...I was reading an article from crutchfield about the 9807, and he said the type 3 is best for MP3s, and I agree that it helps alot, maybe you should mess around with it some more....heres the article:

I'm hoping to find someone who might be able to repair this head unit. The faceplate doesn't slide out at all.

The cutting it off part is what I'm confused about now. The speakers in my car have two wires coming off of them but I would only have one wire on...
