Alpine CDA-7977 + iphone4?

I have an Alpine CDA-7977 and I'd like to connect my iphone 4 to it. I understand the KCA-420i isn't going to work and that the head unit will not control the iphone. No problem with that. My question is, can anyone verify those Ai-net aux cables with the ipod/iphone dock work with the iphone4?

I have an ipod dock aux cable on a Kenwood KDC-715s and while it works fine for my ipod 5G, it doesn't work at all with my iphone 4. It doesn't charge nor does it play audio. I purchased one of the Scosche passPORT and got the chanrging to work, but audio still did not play through the head unit.

These are two I am looking at:

Alpine CDA-7977 AI-Net to iPod Charging Cable (5V)

Alpine CDA-7977 AI-Net to 3.5mm Headphone Jack and iPod Dock (5V Charging) Cable

I purchased the second cable with the 3.5mm jack and iPod dock. Just as I suspected it does not work with the iphone4. The 3.5mm jack works with iphone4 and the dock connector works with my iPod video. Of course the audio out of the 3.5mm jack *****, so I have a SendStation pocketdock on the way so I can use the line out on the iphone4 with a 3.5mm jack and still charge with a separate cable. The pocketdock should be in later this week.

*****, but I really like listening to Pandora and I got a killer deal on my 7977. Someday I'll get something that will work a little better with the iphone4.

will the first one in the link you posted work for the ipod and charge it as well? I have just the alpine cable for the ipod, but would love to be able to leave it plugged in instead of charging it every couple days

I can only assume that ifmit is an iPod and not an iPhone or iPod touch, it should charge. Since I didn't buy the first one I don't know for sure.

There were no instructions so I just connected the red and black leads to 12v and ground respectively.
