Just got my new crutchfield and noticed new alpine cd models CDA-9886 and cda-9884. The CDA-9886 uses imprint and has a rear usb port for only 299 but only has a 2 band parametric eq.

Just got my new crutchfield and noticed new alpine cd models CDA-9886 and cda-9884. The CDA-9886 uses imprint and has a rear usb port for only 299 but only has a 2 band parametric eq.

It also apparently uses a different imprint unit than the 9887 does. According to the Crutchfield flyer its imprint unit is the PXA-H100 (which won't be available until Feb). I wonder what the difference is between it and the KTX-100EQ?

Well PXA should be a processor. It probably needs to be connected all the time.

My guess is they took some part out of the 9887 and made it external?

Which also means the PXA can cost more than the KTX?

There's a lot of features the 9887 has that the 9886 doesn't. I'll pay the extra money and get the 9887.

Well 9886 isn't a replacement for the 9887, I think that will be called the 9888 probably. And they most likely only released their lower end units.
