Alpine 9887 ground problem..?

Ok, well I have had bad high-pitched alternator whine coming through my speakers for some time now.. my old headunit, using the same RCA's ran down the car on the same side never moved, had no whine.. so it's got to be the headunit..

What can I do?

I have seen the fix for Pioneer ground problems.. but what about my 9887?

I've never heard of a 9887 having these problems. Are you using a chassis ground on the HU or the ground from the harness? I'd try relocating that ground first if possible.

If so, do it the same way you do the pioneer ground loop fixes. All it is is grounded the barrels (negative) or the RCA's with copper wire to the chassis of the HU.

It's the ground from the harness..
Anyone else had this issue? Or even heard of it?
The 9887 has a spade at the end of the ground, it's highly recommended (required as per Alpine's manual) that you ground to the chassis. I would definitely try this, it may not work, but it still might. And well, it's the proper way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. Stock wiring from harnesses don't tend to be the best.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Ok sweet man thanks, I'll do it asap..
In the meantime, anyone else chime in?

Btw, can I just use remote wire to ground it?
As long as it's the same gauge as the wire comin off of the HU. Which I doubt, IIRC the ground wire on the 9887 was quite thick.
