Alpine 9886 cutting off and on after KTP-445 installed

Hey. So I opted to amp my stock components with an Alpine KTP-445 inline amp.

When i turn up the volume on the HU the HU will cut off and turn back on. I replaced the fuse in the HU with a 20 amp fuse and the fuse in the fuse box with a 25 amp fuse. This does not solve the problem. It does not matter whether I have the subs plugged in or not. I have tried searching the net, and havent found anything helpful.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Also my batteries are shot. Not enough juice to start the truck, but I do have a big diesel and it is 10 degrees outside, so that could be why it wont start. I have enough juice to run the subs fine without the ktp-445 installed.

Try running power and ground direct to the battery with some bigger wire than what the stock wiring is. Don't forget to fuse. I had a similiar problem and used 12 guage speaker wire and my 9885 has never shut itself off again.

Since the amp is in line with the wiring harness, should i run wire for both sections of the wire, bat to amp, amp to HU? or just run the wire to the amp to by pass the trucks fusebox?

Anyone? I want to make sure I know what I am cutting before I hack up the wiring harness before i start.

A little late here but I had the same problem in my Cherokee and figured this all out .... the reason your system is cycling is due to the under-voltage protection of the head unit. Once the supply line drops below ~10V, the HU will turn off until the voltage comes back above ~11V. Essentially, your low batteries and the cold weather are making this an issue. Two things to do:

a) Jump the truck ... once the truck is running and you have a steady 13V+, the issue should go away

b) change the gain of the amp to low
