Alpine 9853 Aux Input Level low-- help

I am forced to use the aux on my head unit as in cd mode the cd player starts to skip @ really loud n low bass notes.... I have my Aux cord running right into my vx8500 Chocolate phone/mp3 player. Why is it that I have to have the volume @ max on the alpine 9853 aux mode to get decent sound? The bass doesnt hit as hard, the quality of the music is low. what do I need to get the Aux to sound the same as on the cd player mode?
