Alpine 9835 Cd Text Question

My buddy has a pioneer HU and when he puts in a cd with cd text the title and what not pops up on his display. but when i put the same cd into my alpine it reads no title. same thing goes with radio stations. i read the manual and i know that i can put in the names myself. but i thought a cd with cd text should just show up. am i wrong? thanks in advance.

Ummm i am not selling my HU. i just want to know what is going on with the cd text. my buddy just got the 9855 and his does the same. the slider on that thing sucks by the way.

There will be multiple options to the information displayed on the faceplate. On my Kenwood I have to have chosen the option that displays Track Title/Artist information or else no matter what info is burnt into the disc it won't show up.

My g/f's Alpine CDA-7875 is the same way. The option for CD Text info to be displayed must be chosen or it won't display - only standard track # and playtime.

I don't know the mechanism for choosing what is displayed on your particular head unit as I am not at all familiar with the operation of any Alpine outside of the g/f's but consult the manual and I assume it will be explained somewhere in there.

From my experience, i've always had to type in the CD text through a burning program to get it on my HU. But some of my real CD's already have text on them.

yeah i know there is a title button that you press. but when i do it says title: no tilte artist: no artist. but the cd text show up on my boys pioneer unit. what the dilly yo?
