alpine 9835 and ipod

can i hook any ipod up to a 9835 or does it have to be a certain gen/size also does it opperate like that new 9887, i know its not the same but does it run some what the same. i would just buy a 9887 but don't like that face doesn't angle at all. any help

Read the manual. My 9873 only takes certain kinds and certain software versions according to my manual.

What?^

You need the KCA-420i adapter. This will allow the unit to control the iPod from the faceplate. It IS kinda slow though, not as fast as the "Full Speed" newer units. You can also get the AUX adapter which can plug into the headphone jack of the iPod, but then you have to use the iPod like normal to change songs, etc. I like certain features of the 9835 over the 9887, so to me the 9887 isn't worth it just for the Full-Speed iPod connection or Imprint software.

You'll need the KCA-420i, and the ipod will have to have a dock connector. I've used the combination in the past with a 3rd gen 10GB ipod and it worked just fine. Browsing through the 9887 is probably much faster than the 9835 with the 420i. Also, the 9835 will be limited to 255 items.

If you shuffle all songs on your ipod and play them, after the 255th song, the display will keep showing 255.

Yes that is true. I never have a playlist more than around 100 songs though; just make more playlists.
