Alpine 9805 Bass Width setting explanation?

I have a Alpine 9805 HU. Wondering if I could get a better explanation on what exactly the "bass width" adjustment does. It can be set on 1-4. Would this mean for example, that if I set the bass crossover point to 80 on the deck, and had the bass width set to 2, then the HU would still send frequencies within 20hz up or down of 80hz to the amp? Basically frequencies between 60 to 100hz?

It determines how wide of a frequency is affected by the bass level setting (if its like mine, the adjustment range is -7 to +7. On the bass/treble adjustment screens, 1 is the widest effect and 4 is the narrowest. The freqency shown is the central freqency that is adjusted.
