Alpine 7998 V 9835

Hi Everyone,

I am getting ready for the new IPOD interface to come out and I am trying to decide which deck I want.

My system, currently in my 1993 Acura Legend Coupe is:

1 10" Type R Sub,

Alpine MRD M500

Alpine MRV F540

Alpine Type R 6.5 Components

Alpine Type R 6x9

Alpine CDA-W550 Double DIN tape deck

For a deck I want:

IPOD interface compatibility

Good looks

Time Correction

Now the reason I am posting this is because no one in town seems to stock the 7998 anymore. It seems that this deck has been out for a couple years, even though Alpine still has it on their website. It does not say which model year it is. I have read that the ipod interface only works with the 04 decks and if this deck has been out for a couple years, then it wont work right?

I am considering either the 9833 or the 9835 from Alpine, but I really like the looks of the 7998.

Any comments would be much appreciated.

The 04 models seem quite pricey, but if you need ipod interface capabilities, guess you have to find out if the older models will takit or not.

I thought the ipod interface was only for 04? I don't think it will work with a 7998, but I could be mistaken.

Well thats what Alpines website says. But the 7998 is still on the website and it is an AI-net deck so that is where I am kinda confused.

Yeah, but the 7998 isn't a 2004 deck. To make sure, call Alpine(or call Crutchfield, an authorized dealer, and ask them).
