Alpine 7998 skipping!!!

This is the second 7998 that I own that develops a skipping problem. It will skip any cd that I put in, CD-r, original, scratched, brand new. The skipping is not that bad, its random. I could be playing a disc and half hour later it just randomly skips. And not just when I hit a pothole. Somedays it wont even skip at all!!

Is this common with these HU's? Has anybody else had any problems with these Alpines??

Is it securely mounted in the dash with a backstrap in place? Mine has maybe skipped once in 4 years and it was a hell of a bump in the road that caused it.

Maybe it's that bouncy Yukon suspension and not being securely mounted in a dash kit. It's not the Alpine.
