i have a pioneer 850 premier and it is excellent so i would imagine the 940 mp is great too.

I have the Alpine 7998 and couldn't be more happier. The seek times are very fast compared to the other mp3 headunits that I have owned in the past. The only Pioneer Premier that I can compare it to is the 740mp. Between the two, the Alpine is significantly faster when loading mp3's.

I am pretty sure the alpine is better SQ wise because that is what ther company is all about. But I am also sure that the pionner is not that far behind

Prior to the Alpine 7998, I had a Kenwood Excelon Z828 and the seek times on that unit was still faster than my buddies 740mp.

940mp, i think is the better choice THough if that Alpine is anything like the Alpine 9815 i was messing around with at the store, than it's a **** good headunit too, but i would still go with the 940mp
